Geoffrey Bawa built the hotel straight into the rock face above Kandalama tank, then let the jungle grow over it. From the far shore it almost disappears. Inside, long open corridors run along the cliff, and nearly every room looks out across the water.
On a clear morning you can see Sigiriya rock from the balcony. Evenings are quiet: there is no town to walk to, so most guests eat in, swim, and go to bed early before a sunrise climb.
Ask us for a room facing the tank. It is the view the hotel was designed around.
