Why we recommend it
The hotel sits in the buffer zone rather than behind a fence, so elephants, buffalo and peacocks come through the grounds. It is the closest thing to sleeping in the park.
It is our base for both safari days on the whole-island route: Udawalawe and the Elephant Transit Home on the way in, Yala itself the next morning.
